Carla Crayton, founder of the Sheridan Foster Parent Exchange, was recently honored as Wyoming’s recipient of the prestigious Andrus Award by AARP Wyoming, recognizing her as the state’s top volunteer over age 50. Her efforts have created lasting support for foster children and families in crisis across multiple counties and inspired similar programs throughout Wyoming.
Award and Recognition
The Andrus Award, given annually by AARP and named for its founder Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus, honors one exceptional volunteer per state who is over the age of 50. Crayton won following an extensive social media and online voting process conducted by AARP Wyoming members, outpacing other distinguished finalists from Cheyenne. She will be celebrated at AARP Wyoming’s Volunteer Summit at the UCross Ranch on October 16.
